So are you a banjo player? Are you a Christian? Wait what?
Yeah so I’m asking you if you are a banjo player. If you are then how much time do you spend practicing the banjo? How much time do you work on your technique, learn new songs, improve your timing, spend with your hands on your strings?
If your answer is not at least 4 times a week, then you will not get much better at being a banjo player. There I said it. It’s true! Does that light a fire under your behind? If it doesn’t then I’m not sure what will. If you claim to be a banjo player yet don’t play, then a banjo player you are not.
Does this anger you in some way? If it does it shouldn’t, I’m sharing the truth with you. So what are you gonna do about it?????
What good is it to spend all your time watching youtube, reading banjo books, or ogling all the banjos in the store without buying one? So get up and go play your banjo. Spend more time playing banjo and less time doing all the other things I listed. Pay ATTENTION – The only way to get better is to put your hands on your banjo and play it.
Onto my second question – yep I went there.
Yeah so I’m asking you if you are a Christian. If you are then how much time do you spend with God? How much do you read the Bible, pray, fellowship with others?
If your answer is not at least *4 times a week you are reading your Bible, praying daily, and being in fellowship with others as often as you can, then a Christian example for others you are not. There I said it. It’s true! Does that light a fire under your behind? If it doesn’t then I’m not sure what will. If you claim to be a Christian yet do not act like one then you are not one.
*I said 4 times as a reference to how much I said to practice banjo, but in reality you should be reading the word daily.
Are these examples above the only things that make you a Christian? No of course not . There is definitely more to it. However, if you begin by reading the Bible you will learn how to be a Christian. If you are a professing Christian and you have not read the Bible, then what are you doing?
What good is it to watch TV, be on facebook, talk on the phone (if that’s even done anymore)? Does any of this further your walk with God? All you have to do is pick up a Holy Bible and read, and read, and read. God calls us to meditate on his word day and night (see Psalm 1:2, Joshua 1:8. NO YOU GO LOOK IT UP).
So get up and go read your Bible. Read it a lot. Did this light the fire? If not, then I bet I’ve made you mad or you are just saying what’s the point? Well the point is that the Holy Bible is a historical document that is at the very least something a well-read person should be familiar with. You know I’m right. So go get a Bible and get to reading it. I challenge you to read it. It will change your life.
I’m meaning to address something here with people, not argue. If you claim to be either of these things yet fail to do what it takes to be the said thing, then you ain’t it. Talk without action is useless. So get up and DO SOMETHING.
I pray that if you read this you will heed my words and pick up a banjo and a Bible more often.
-in love, Mandy
As my YouTube channel grows I have been thinking I’m going to start having some posts about my love of Jesus! My aim is to lift people up. All people. If seeing my post is all the word you see, then I pray that it will impact you positively. If you are already my brother or sister in Christ then I hope to give you a lift, get you thinking about the word, or just sharing thoughts with you.
I do hope you enjoy. If you do not then don’t read it. I do encourage you to read it though if you are a non-believer.
One more thing before I begin – I will never have ads in these posts. (Other than what wordpress automatically uses for my free use of the blog page). This is personal and I am not here to profit from this. My goal is to change hearts and minds.
So let’s take a look at Psalm 119:105. Here is a picture below from my Bible. “Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.”
First let’s talk about darkness. In darkness is where the devil hides. People who are doing wrong are doing it in the dark. They try and hide their sin from others. Criminals and thieves work best in the dark, that’s an easy one. But you drinking at the bar, talking to women who are not your wife on FB or texts, or watching pornography may not think you are doing anything wrong. Let me ask you this, if you aren’t doing anything wrong then why would you hide it from your spouse or children? If you are hiding anything from them, then it is darkness and sin.
The Bible is full of references to light and darkness. Jesus, the word, our light. These are the light that shines brightly for everyone to see. Satan, sin, evil. These are all things that are hidden and done in darkness.
Everything we need to know about life comes from the Bible. Every lesson you will ever need is there already. The love of Jesus is a light in my life. I pray that you find Jesus as well.
You know that sin is wrong. You know that your family would be so happy to spend time with you instead of you hiding in your sin. Sin never makes us happy. Jesus can set you free. He can take away all your sin and erase it. He can help you start again. Fresh and new in Jesus Christ.
Why not take that step? Just commit yourself to Him and you will see so much positive change in your life. Come out of the dark and live in the beautiful light of Jesus.
I pray today that as you read this you feel a nagging or pulling to change your life. I pray today that you will open your heart and mind and let Jesus in. I pray that if you are already a believer you will be renewed in Christ and have a burning desire to dive into God’s Word.
No one in this world today is perfect. Everyone is a sinner and we all need cleansing. Jesus can provide that for you.
I recommend you purchase a King James Version Bible. You can read it online for free and that’s wonderful, but having actual paper to read is better. It’s more personal. Here is a link – KJV Bible Online

I am also a Gold Tone banjo dealer and can get you their full line of products.
May God Bless you and give you abundant happiness this year.
It’s finally here everyone!! I had things to get done before I could open it so I’ve brought you along for the ride. Hope you enjoy! The banjo is a Gold Tone CC-OT.
I got this banjo for several reasons.
- Weight – it weighs less than my WL-250
- Depth – the pot isn’t as deep and just for comfort
- I needed something that might not hurt as much if I play standing. My WL is heavy and it hurts my neck and shoulders when I play with a strap on it.
- I also wanted something that was less expensive to be outside in the garden playing and toting around with me wherever I go. Not that this is cheap by any means, but it does cost less than the WL.
- GT and everyone has had to change from rosewood fretboard material to blackwood. I wanted something made with this material to give it a good review.
- Plus it’s never really a bad time to buy a banjo right?????
You can expect me to be playing this banjo in my videos and I’ll bet you can tell some unique differences in sound.

Without further ado, here it is up close!
Psalm 119:105 – Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
And we’re off. 2018 is now upon us all. So you haven’t played banjo in a long time. That poor banjo is gathering dust in the closet, stuck on your wall, or heck you can’t really remember where it is exactly.
Where did I put it?????
If you haven’t played in awhile why not make a fresh start in 2018? Get back on that horse and let’s play. I offer lessons in various ways. I have a YouTube Channel that is full of great videos. I also offer a video lesson pack for sale and an ebook with audio exercises to get you going. Get those HERE.
To get started again just grab that banjo and dust it off a bit. Tune it up and watch this.
Take your time. Take your time. Take your time. Yes, I’m asking you to just slow down and enjoy the process. No matter why you put your banjo down in the first place, it doesn’t really matter. But there is a reason you own a banjo. Something made you want to learn to play it. Maybe you played Scruggs style, maybe this maybe that. If you haven’t tried this style (clawhammer, frailing, Old-Time), then you haven’t seen how happy this style can make you. Give it a shot.
Hope to hear from you! If you like what you see on my YouTube channel, make a comment to say hello. Be sure to like my FB page too.
